Hi, I'm Shaj.
I've spent my career on all sides of the A-Level Physics exams — teaching it, leading it, and marking it.
Background
I hold a Master's degree in Physics from University College London (UCL). Before moving into tutoring, I taught at multiple Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' schools, and managed the A-Level Physics department. I've also worked as an A-Level Physics examiner — which means I've seen first-hand how marks are actually awarded and lost.
That dual perspective, teacher and examiner, shapes how I tutor. It's not just about understanding the physics; it's about knowing exactly what an examiner is looking for in an answer, and how to write it.
I'm a qualified teacher (QTS) and DBS-checked, and I tutor students online across AQA, OCR and Edexcel. Many of my classes have achieved an ALPS score of 2, placing them in the top 10% nationally for student progress.

How I teach
Every student comes in at a different point, so every session starts from where they actually are — not a fixed syllabus march.
Real-time feedback, not marking after the fact
Using interactive whiteboards and regular formative assessments, I diagnose student misconceptions in real time. I can see exactly how a student is answering a question, on my own screen, and fix errors instantly.
Diagnose first
We start by working through past-paper questions together so I can see exactly where marks are being lost — a physics misunderstanding, or an exam-technique one.
Teach to the mark scheme
Understanding the physics is the baseline. I teach students to write answers the way examiners are trained to reward, in the specific language each board expects.
Practise under pressure
Timed past-paper practice, reviewed line by line, so students walk into the real exam having already made — and fixed — their mistakes.
